Ranking the Godzilla Monsters (#30-21)

OH BOY.

Let's continue, shall we? We're now at the 30th kaiju. And they are...

#30: Ebirah (Film Appearances: Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, Godzilla: Final Wars) Abilities: Adept swimmer, crisis scissor claws

AKA: Overpriced Seafood

Yep, that's right. It's Ebirah, the giant lobster-shrimp kaiju that can... well, he can't do all that much. He's kind of strong but really weak against Godzilla. That's really it. If you wan to stay alive around him, though, try using some Saffron. He can't stand the stuff.

#29: Minilla (Film Appearances: Son of Godzilla, Destroy all Monsters, Godzilla's Revenge, Godzilla: Final Wars) Abilities: Atomic smoke rings, brainwave communication with Godzilla

AKA: Pillsbury Doughboy Tryout

Godzilla's son from the Showa and Millenium series proved to be, well, nothing at all like his dad. He was just kind of an annoying little guy who was aimed at children and didn't really do all that much. Now, Godzilla did have another son in the Heisei series, which we'll get to later...

#28: Gorosaurus (Film Appearances: Destroy all Monsters) Abilities: Burrowing, kangaroo drop kick

AKA: Welcome to Jurassic Park

I'll be honest, I actually kind of like the idea behind this guy. He's just a giant theropod. But, in the grand scale of things, he isn't all that interesting compared to other kaiju. He debuted in the 1967 film King Kong Escapes as a minor enemy, and then again in Destroy all Monsters as one of the main kaiju. Even then, he wasn't given all that much time in the film because there were so many monsters. Still, I remember really liking him when I was little.

#27: Super X/X2/X3 (Film Appearances: The Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Biollante, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah) Abilities: Flight, missiles, lasers, heat-resistant, fire-mirror, torpedoes, gatling gun

AKA: That, Um... That One Thing, You Know...

So yes, this isn't technically a kaiju or a monster of any sort, but it's appeared in enough films and done enough to be on this list. It's basically a military vehicle created by the JSDF to help stop Godzilla, at one point in The Return of Godzilla even nearly killing him. While each of the models are technically different vehicles with slightly different abilities, I'm classifying them all as one thing. So this thing isn't too bad, but it's shown that it can be defeated easily numerous times. Definitely at the bottom of my "mecha" list.

#26: Baragon (Film Appearances: Destroy all Monsters, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack) Abilities: Flame ray, burrowing, incredible jumper

AKA: Puppy Kitty (With a Horn Too)

Now we're getting into kaiju who have actually done stuff and I personally find pretty interesting. Here we have Baragon, and I'm actually a pretty big fan of his design. While he's not all that powerful or anything, I just have this special affinity for him. While he didn't really do anything in the Showa Godzilla films, he did serve as the main antagonist in the 1965 film Frankenstein vs. Baragon. Anyway, while he's not much, I like him.

#25: King Kong (Film Appearances: Godzilla vs. King Kong) Abilities: Incredible strength, invulnerable to electricity, electric currents

AKA: King Kong's Meth-Addicted Cousin

Hey look, the goofy Japanese King Kong! Yeah, he's only up this high because he proves to be a formidable opponent for Godzilla. If it was by design, he'd be much lower. I mean come on, look at him! Also, he apparently likes to shove trees down Godzilla's throat.

#24: M.U.T.O. (Film Appearances: Godzilla 2014) Abilities: Echolocation, electromagnetic pulse, flight (Male Only)

AKA: P.R.O.F.I.T.

Even though there are to M.U.T.O.s in the movie, I'm counting them as the same thing (M.U.T.O. stands for Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). These kaiju were actually pretty cool, innovative and original. They brought something new to the table. However, they weren't really in the movie all that much (Just like Godzilla) and were pretty tiny compared to their opponent. They did, however, prove to be unique and they both showed different aspects of the species.

#23: Megaguirus (Film Appearances: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus) Abilities: Incredible speed, flight, sonic waves, energy drainage, fireball

AKA: *High-Pitched Noise*

Ah yes, Megaguirus. The queen of the Meganulon species. She has a pretty awesome design, but- well, to have her name in the title, doesn't do much. She surfaces for one fight against Godzilla. Although this is the movie's fault, we don't really see much of her. What we do see is pretty cool, however, and she proves to be a pretty cool enemy for Godzilla.

#22: Megalon (Film Appearances: Godzilla vs. Megalon) Abilities: Lightning beam, napalm bombs, flight, drill hands, burrowing

AKA: Beetleroach (Now With Camp!)

Oh, what a silly, goofy kaiju. But I have to admit, these adjectives perfectly sum up why I like him. He's a ridiculous kaiju from a ridiculous underground civilization that proves to be an angry, confused monster who needs the help of Gigan for fighting and Jet Jaguar for guidance. But you've gotta admit, he's goofy enough to convince anyone to like him.

#21: M.O.G.U.E.R.A. (Film Appearances: Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla) Abilities: Lasers, plasma shots, drill bit, energy beams, spiral grenade missiles, plasma maser cannon, flight at mach 1/mach 44, can split into Land Moguera and Star Falcon

AKA: L.E.T.S.A.D.D.S.O.M.E.M.O.R.E.A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.S.

While M.O.G.U.E.R.A. (Mobile Operation Godzilla Universal Expert Robot Aero-type) isn't the strongest, toughest or most enduring of the mechas in the series, he does have an extensive collection of weapons and abilities and looks pretty cool. M.O.G.U.E.R.A. actually first appeared as an alien mecha simply named "Moguera" in the 1957 film The Mysterians. He is definitely one of the more creative attempts made by the JSDF to stop Godzilla and, in this case, SpaceGodzilla.

Welp, that does it for this portion of the list, see you all in part three of four.
